  1. Today brought more snow and a prose poem about being a full time parent while your friends get promotions and go clubbing to celebrate. Another one for the Novel Writing Winter.

    • Good. I’m glad the prose poems are still happening. I’m sure many people will identify with the parent versus career conundrum. I gave up my fulltime career for parenthood when my daughter was four. Never regretted it for a moment. I took up childminding at home instead, so other parents could go out to work.

      • I am struggling with it today. My job is the most fetid pile of fecal matter and I so much want to give it up and get a job which has meaning – the downside is I will get to see my daughter every other weekend. I think that might break me.

      • Oh, dear. Poor, poor you. Are there no jobs that don’t involve weekends? Do you have transport, and, if so, could you stand doing an agency carer’s job? I think some of the agencies allow you to be quite selective about your hours. At least doing a job like that, people will appreciate you.

      • I am looking at the moment – I really want to work with people. The problem is giving up stable pay for agency work is pretty scary.

      • How about doing a few peoples’ gardens, too? Gardening is good for the soul and a great inspiration for haiku :-)

  2. Just swallowed them up. This poem reflects wonderful imagery. Nice job.

  3. Hi Sarah,
I also love the imagery in this Haiku, and the illustration is perfect :-)
